The Centre for Exchange at School of Humanities and Social Sciences, Jain (Deemed-to-be
University) organized a guest lecture on Words of Wisdom on “Relevance of Humanities and
Social Sciences to Engagement in Different Sectors on December 9, 2020.
The keynote speaker for the event was Wing Commander M.A Afraz (Retd.), and a founding
trustee of Honour Point (NGO). He enlightened the students on how they can make the most
of humanities and social science as a profession and the relevance of the topics, concepts,
and ideas they learn about society under this school.
Mr. M.A Afraz emphasized the role of humanities and social science in the social sector by
citing his NGO and what it does for community building. He spoke of different professions
under the School of Humanities and Social Science and how it encompasses diverse
industries and career paths for the students.
The session was thought-provoking and informative that helped the students to understand
the scope of the subject for a better future and career growth.
