Dr. MahendraNath Pandey, Honorable Minister of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship presented the Convocation Address to the class of 2016 at the 6th Annual Convocation of Jain (Deemed-to-be University).
While delivering the convocation address, Mr. Pandey said, “It’s the moment to celebrate your academic achievements and I congratulate all of you for your efforts and success. But on that note I would also like to urge you to take the responsibility to share and spread the learnings that you are taking away with you from here.?
He urged the students to contribute to the society through their individual abilities and initiatives and bring changes that can transform lives. Evoking the valuable teachings of Mahaveer Jain, he advised the students on the importance of culture-rich society. And how science, tech and culture can go hand-in-hand to bring positive changes.
He said that India has great talents and resources that can contribute massively to different sectors and propel the economic growth of the country. He mentioned that Indian education sector has also made steady progress in order to keep pace with the growing demand and meet the student’s expectations.
Mr. Pandey also urged the students to make the best use of the education that they have received, as the responsibility is on them to bring the changes. He urged them to highlight the value, ethics and positive stories of India when they go on to represent the country to a global space.
Jain (Deemed-to-be University), School of Sciences hosted a public lecture by Mr. Gabe Gabrielle, Engineer, Kennedy Space Centre, NASA in association with Society for Space Education Research and Development . The speaker is in tour talking across India and inspiring students about space and NASA. The space talk took the audience on a virtual tour on the space stations, launch pads, rocket launchers, and more. The knowledge of the students about space science made the speaker to speak upon the job opportunities in US and NASA. He appreciated and proudly said the student’s potential in a country like India is immense which has made way for many Indian scientists to work in NASA. He also reiterated the words by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, - ‘Have a dream. Never fail to dream!’ which was apt to celebrate the Missile Man’s birthday. He stressed about how one needs to identify activities that gives them pleasure and to do them and at the same time emphasized on the fact that every piece of work needs to be done with pleasure.
More than 100 students from schools and colleges in and around Bangalore including places like Challakere, Chitradurga, Kolar, KGF, Chikkaballapura, Hoskote etc attended the space talk session.
Dr. K. Sivan, Chairman, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) graced the 9th Annual Convocation of Jain (Deemed-to-be University) as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. K. Sivan said, “I appreciate the fact that Social Responsibility is deeply rooted in the vision of Jain (Deemed-to-be University). It stems from a realization that we are all part of the community, locally, nationally or globally, and how we affect the society will ultimately affect the way we live. Jain (Deemed-to-be University) in the last nine years since its inception has managed to attract students from more than 35 countries. Here, students are empowered to challenge conventional thinking in pursuit of original ideas and excel in their areas of interest. They are driven to dig deeper, push further, question and leverage the knowledge to enrich all human life. This is exactly the ethos of ISRO. Our mandate is to ensure the safety, security and improve the quality of life of people of India through innovative use of Space Technology.?
