CMS Business School, Jain (Deemed-to-be University) hosted a seminar on Women Empowerment where India’s first highly ranked woman IPS officer and renowned social activist, Dr. Kiran Bedi addressed the students raising concerns about the prevalent scenario of crimes against women and how empowering women can help combat the situation.
Highlighting concerns about harassment and assault against women that are increasing each day, Dr. Bedi called for a compelling need to create awareness among people and asked the women students of Jain (Deemed-to-be University) to take a stand and fight for their rights. Through her speech, she played a crucial role in making the women students of Jain (Deemed-to-be University) realize their true potential and means of leveraging them.
Jain (Deemed-to-be University), School of Sciences hosted a public lecture by Mr. Gabe Gabrielle, Engineer, Kennedy Space Centre, NASA in association with Society for Space Education Research and Development . The speaker is in tour talking across India and inspiring students about space and NASA. The space talk took the audience on a virtual tour on the space stations, launch pads, rocket launchers, and more. The knowledge of the students about space science made the speaker to speak upon the job opportunities in US and NASA. He appreciated and proudly said the student’s potential in a country like India is immense which has made way for many Indian scientists to work in NASA. He also reiterated the words by Dr. A. P. J. Abdul Kalam, - ‘Have a dream. Never fail to dream!’ which was apt to celebrate the Missile Man’s birthday. He stressed about how one needs to identify activities that gives them pleasure and to do them and at the same time emphasized on the fact that every piece of work needs to be done with pleasure.
More than 100 students from schools and colleges in and around Bangalore including places like Challakere, Chitradurga, Kolar, KGF, Chikkaballapura, Hoskote etc attended the space talk session.
